Reiki tsm A new dimension of practice

Reiki tsm Overview

The previous pages have been a way of leaving a trail as a guide for others. This is not a path everyone will feel called to follow. The need for mindful practice and application is not eliminated. Change is not always easy, and this path of its nature involves change.

This page is an attempt at an overview. One limit is language that attempts to describe an experience of something that is known only by the experience of it. Another is bringing together my experience to feel into where the process leads, what may be on the horizon.

Note that these are personal opinions and beliefs based on my experience of the tsm process over a period of years. They do not need to be true for you. The concepts are challenging and have only slowly come to be accepted by myself as just so. Following the trail will reveal if they are true in your own experience.

This way…

That purpose of a mystical practice is to still the mind, to short-circuit the currents of thinking, so that the reality which thought obscures becomes known.

Kurama…

It is common to hear Reiki described as 'universal energy', that this energy is channelled through the hands of the treatment giver, that it can be sent, that it can be directed. Some say every thing is made of this universal energy, that we ourselves are made of Reiki, that the answer to everything is to ''just be Reiki'. None of these interpretations are a reality supported by the lens of the tsm experience.

Mikao Usui used a Japanese word to give a name to something he experienced. He is said to have felt 'a great Reiki over his head'. This sense of a mysterious presence, a universal consciousness, is a legitimate interpretation of the Reiki Kanji. This universal consciousness, present everywhere and at all times has been given different names through the ages. In this practice we call it 'Reiki'.

The practice Usui founded may have originated in the land and culture of Japan, but is ultimately based in the nature of what it is to be human. Usui's system of practice enables the development of innate qualities every mind/body/spirit being brings with them into the experience we call life. An enlightenment experience may be an aspect of the development process, but my sense is that is not the destination.

This practice that we loosely call 'Reiki' is a human development system holding the possibility of the moment to moment awareness of the universal consciousness that is expressing ITSELF as us and everything in existence. This is the invisible reality behind the system. All forms of the system that are recognisable derivates of the system of practice founded by Usui, potentially lead to this same knowing and experience.
The Mystery, in it's very nature, must show you what has never been seen, never been written, never been known.
~ Unknown
All of the constructs of the system that we practice today evolved out of one man's experience. His response to this experience was to transmit the experience to others, drawing on forms of practice with which he was familiar - ones that accessed body and mind, having the capacity to create an environment from which a specific human development process is enabled.

The forms of practice were not new, they were tried and true. Our imperfect understandings of them has led to distortions and misconceptions. The hands-on healing practice, simple safe human touch of itself, works in a multitude of ways, psychological and physiological that bring comfort and healing to the body and mind. That is a given, a very human factor.

The less tangible aspect of hands-on treatment is that the quality of that touch can take us into the experience of what I term Presence, Resonance and Entrainment. The further development of this environment is an experience of Coherence, of Love that is a force, sometimes called Universal Love, which is the key to the experience of the miraculous.

This leads to an appreciation of the system as a mystical practice beyond the common perception of healing and modality. The Usui system uses the practice of hands-on treatment to facilitate a meditative state, that serves to still the mind, to short-circuit the currents of thinking, so the reality which thought obscures becomes known.

The second degree practice furthers this process with a symbol practice that enables the direct experience of the universal presence that the symbols represent. This is the reality of Mystic Order.

The Mystery

This is a vision of the practice that is calling from a deeper place, beyond ‘modality’, and ‘energy healing’. Perhaps we may enter into this greater reality together, into the circle of the mystical NOW. There is a choice to make, a path to take.

a Vision Splendid

With this foundational understanding the threads of the Usui system point clearly to an as yet unrealised vision and direction for the future of Reiki practice. The practice has served us well individually and collectively in the role of a 'healing art'.

Phyllis Furumoto wrote of what she described as Mystic Order in terms of a community ‘awakening to the experience of a much greater reality beyond what is commonly known’.

Developing a moment to moment relationship with Presence through the hands-on treatment practice, through the experience of the true nature of what the symbols represent, has been invisibly (secretly!) pointing toward this greater reality described by Furumoto.

This is a vision of the practice that is calling from a deeper place, beyond ‘modality’, and ‘energy healing’, holding the greater experience of the mystery of who and what we truly are.

My vision is that those of us who practice the system Usui gifted to us, may enter into this greater reality together, into the circle of the mystical NOW.

There is a choice to make, and a path to take.
